[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]21st August 2017 – Rhodes University invited SADD to train their peer mentors on drink driving, alcohol abuse and basic road safety. This is to equip them with enough knowledge to run awareness campaigns on their campus in the future.
The Student Peer Education department managed to get at least 30 peers to attend the session, and they benefited greatly from the talk that Mrs Smit gave.
Among the challenges of the students were peer pressure, and the need to fit in into campus social life. The students were very intrigued with the talk, and asked various questions on how to cut down on their drinking, how they can help a friend with their drinking and where to go for help if they are having problems with their alcohol intake.
At the conclusion of the students received merchandise (branded T-Shirts, Fridge Magnets, Unit of Alcohol Cards) to distribute when they do the campaigns on campus now that they had been trained by SADD.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”899″][vc_single_image image=”900″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”901″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
